ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.40 gms), ca. 240-228 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5. Scratches.

HGC-1, 901; Vlasto-942-3; HN Italy-1055. Obverse: Nude youth, brandishing spear and holding reins, on horse galloping right; wreath to left, OΛYMΠIΣ below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding kantharos and cornucopia, riding dolphin left; tripod to right. Very attractive, this specimen is nicely struck and remains a collectable example from the popular series with an even amount of wear across the surfaces.
