ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.27 gms), ca. 280-272 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Edge Cuts.

HGC-1, 887; Vlasto-792-6; HN Italy-1013. Obverse: Warrior, holding shield and two spears, on horse rearing left; ZΩ to right, [AΠO]ΛΛΩ below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding grape bunch and distaff, riding dolphin left; ANΘ to right. A pleasing example of the type, this coin is strongly struck and well centered. Some light edge cuts are noted, but not at all distracting.
