ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.49 gms), ca. 280-272 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5.

HGC-1, 885; Vlasto-773-9; HN Italy-1011. Obverse: The Dioskouroi on horses rearing left; monogram above, [ΣΩΔAMOΣ below]; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding crowning Nike, two spears, and shield decorated with hippocamp, riding dolphin left; ΓY to left, waves below. A nice piece, this example is well stuck and neatly centered on an attractive flan.
