1817 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-110/110a (intermediate die state). Rarity-2. AU-58+ (PCGS).

Satiny, near-fully lustrous surfaces are brilliant in the centers with splashes of rich cobalt blue and reddish-apricot iridescence at the borders. Struck from an intermediate state of the 1817 Overton-110 dies, this piece displays all of the cracks mentioned in the fifth edition of the Overton reference (O-110a), but the reverse is uncracked (O-110). Early date Capped Bust half dollars are particularly scarce and desirable in the finest circulated grades, as here.
