1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 1-D, W-6190. Rarity-3-. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. AU-58+ (NGC).
A superb, very nearly uncirculated example of the type with smooth, mark-free surfaces that retain slight traces of mint texture in the fields. The color is an attractive chocolate-brown, the toning perfectly even across both sides. Well made, the strike is centered and full as well as unusually crisp at the date and legends thanks to the early die state. A lovely coin and prime candidate for inclusion in a high quality colonial type set.
