Description

Medals

MEXICO. First Veracruz Exposition Silver Medal, 1881. PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, Unc Details Gold Shield.

Diameter: 30mm. Obverse: Lyre, classical bust and painting instruments all between cloud-supported wreath; radiant star above; Reverse: JUNTA / AUXILIAR / DE SENORAS / DE ORIZABA. Struck to commemorate the exposition held in the town of Orizaba, this medal is brilliant and well-kept with limited evidence of handling. While PCGS has made mention of a mount removal, it is our opinion that the rough patch on the edge at 12 o'clock was as-made and did not result from the removal of a loop. Undoubtedly RARE, this is the first of its kind that we have offered.

From the Barquera Collection.

Estimate: $100.00 - $200.00
