Massachusetts Cent
1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 8-C, W-6260. Rarity-3. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. AU-55 (PCGS).
154.4 grains. A handsome Near Mint example that is sharply struck, well preserved, and attractively patinated. Both sides exhibit a rich gloss bordering on that which could be considered luster. Blended medium brown and tan patina that forms a vertical woodgrain pattern which enhances the eye appeal. Excellent centering and the strike is bold throughout showing better than average definition at the centers. Only trivial defects including some tiny marks on the legs and a thin striation right of the date. Quite appealing as an example of the type, date, and variety alike.
PCGS# 948. NGC ID: 2B27.
