Description

Engraved Coins, Love Tokens, and Coin Jewelry

Engraved Occupational Love Token Fashioned out of an 1854 Liberty Seated Quarter.

The center of the reverse of the host coin depicts the pictorial engravings of a saw, knife, cleaver and a pick. This is surrounded by a simple border. This piece was for and owned by a surgeon or perhaps a butcher as the pictorial engravings denote. As can be seen, the coin originally had a pinback, but it has been removed. A graphic, but realistic occupational love token.

From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.

Estimate: $ 150
