T. TILER in a serrated box punch on an 1842 Braided Hair large cent. Brunk T-293, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Very Fine.
Deep, well impressed stamp. Due to the large size of this stamp, it is unlikely one used by a silversmith and most other maker marks, except those of larger items. It is however very similar to those found on carpenter tools, either a mark of the carpenter himself or even a manufacturer of the tool itself. Currently unattributed, a little bit of research with antique tool listings should reveal its origin. This is the only example reported by Brunk.
