J.F. McKENNY counterstamped on an 1842 Braided Hair large cent. Brunk M-473, Rulau-ME 2A. Host coin Good.
John Freeman McKenny was the son of Henry, working originally in Biddeford with his father and then on his own in both Saco and Bath, ME as a gunsmith. This example most likely emanates from his time in Bath. It is not known if these marks were also used on the guns they manufactured. This coin is unreported among the large cents known with this stamp.
