Description

Cleopatra VII Thea, 51-30 B.C

PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Kleopatra VII Thea Neotera, 51-30 B.C. AE 80 Drachmai (Diobol) (19.39 gms), Alexandreia Mint. NGC FINE, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.

Svor-1871; SNG Cop-419-21. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust right; Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; cornucopia to left, Π (mark of value) to right. Though well worn (as is commonly the case with these extremely popular types), the present example is free from the typical problems that can plague the series and still offers a solid portrait of this famous Egyptian queen and lover to Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.

Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
