Svor-168; SNG Cop-19. In the name of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, wearing elephant skin headdress and aegis; tiny Δ at top of aegis by ear; Reverse: Athena advancing right, holding shield and preparing to hurl spear; to right, Corinthian helmet, monogram, and eagle standing right on thunderbolt. Though exhibiting the noted issues, this piece nevertheless offers a pleasing cabinet tone and dates to the first issue of Ptolemy as king.
