Description

PERU

The Single Finest Certified

PERU. South Peru (Republic of). 2 Reales, 1838-AREQ. Arequipa Mint. NGC MS-63.

KM-169.2. One-year type. Sharply detailed through the sunface design with soft gray tone in the open fields and bright luster that strengthens around many of the designs. Struck at the ephemeral Arequipa mint in southern Peru, this coin is EXTREMLELY RARE as presented, with most survivors showing a combination of crude production and heavy usage. As the single finest example certified by either NGC or PCGS, this coin should certainly elate the collector seeking to assemble a type set from this fascinating period of Peru's history.

From the Matthew Orsini Collection.

Estimate: $500.00- $1000.00
