PERU
PERU. South Peru (Republic of). 2 Reales, 1837-CUZCO BA. Cuzco Mint. NGC AU-58.
KM-169.1. One-year type. Featuring a beloved sunface design, this silver minor exhibits surfaces that are fully original, with instances of faint iridescent color on both sides and only slight friction on the tops of the designs that determines the grade. A true anomaly for the series, as most silver coinage from South Peru saw extensive circulation and often times was holed at 12 o'clock to ease carrying.
From the Matthew Orsini Collection. Ex: R.L. Lissner Collection (CNG 8/2014) Lot # 2111. Ex: Freeman Craig (6/1974).
