Description

Augustus, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14

AUGUSTUS, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14. Asia Minor, Uncertain. AE "Sestertius" (25.44 gms), ca. 25 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 4/5.

RIC-501; RPC-I, 2233. Obverse: Bare head right; Reverse: Large CA within wreath. Though there is some noted striking weakness near a portion of the obverse and reverse peripheries, this majestic, impressive specimen features an incredible portrait of Rome's first emperor and offers deep chocolate brown surfaces. Wholesome and problem free, it should generate tremendous enthusiasm for collectors of the coinage of Augustus or that from the imperial outposts.
