JULIUS CAESAR. AV Stater, Rome Mint, A. Hirtius, praetor, 46 B.C. ICG VF 35.

Cr-466/1; CRI-56; Calico-37b; Syd-1018. Obverse: C CAESAR COS TER, veiled female head right; Reverse: A HIRTIVS PR, emblems of the augurate and pontificate: lituus, guttus, and securis. An always popular type from one of the most famous men in history, this gold issue from Julius Caesar was struck just a few years before his assassination. Some scattered minor marks and light handling are noted, but it nevertheless features a solid strike and golden-yellow toning.
