Lot of (20) Massachusetts State Militia Uniform Coat Buttons. Albert MS-19A. Brass with Original Shanks. 25 mm. Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated.
Featuring a standing Native American, holding a bow in one hand and a downwards pointing arrow in the other. The fronts of all these buttons are essentially the same, but there are at least 3 reverse varieties. (12) are inscribed RICH QUALITY / LONDON with a small "7" between RICH and QUALITY; (5) are nearly identical to these but lack the "7"; (2) are inscribed WARRANTED / TREBLE / PLATED along with a wreath (one with the word PLATED extremely weakly struck); and (1) is inscribed TREBLE GILT / STANDd COLOUR. None have been excavated, and several boast the highly desirable sharply struck-up V neck and belt on the Indian. THIS IS A MUST SEE, SOLD AS IS, NO RETURN LOT.
