Admiral Vernon Medals
1739 Admiral Vernon Porto Bello Medal. Vernon's Portrait Alone. Adams-Chao PBv 36-II, M-G 63. Rarity-5. Bath Metal. MS-62 (PCGS).
37.8 mm. Really an outstanding example from these dies, this piece is warmly toned in blended antique brassy-gold and olive-brown. The strike is overall sharply executed, the obverse design elements near-fully defined and those on the reverse with just a touch of softness to some of the ships and buildings. Hard and satiny in texture with no detracting blemishes. Exceptional quality for an Admiral Vernon medal irrespective of type, and worthy of the strongest bids, as such.
