GREAT BRITAIN. Charlotte Coronation Gold Medal, 1761. London Mint. PCGS Genuine--Damage, VF Details Gold Shield.
BHM-66; Eimer-696. By L. Natter. Obverse: CHARLOTTA D G M BR FR ET HIB REGINA, diademed and draped bust right; Reverse: QVAESITVM MERITIS, Charlotte standing facing, holding scepter and being crowned by Fame flying left; orb and lighted and garlanded altar to right; in two lines in exergue, CORON XXII SEPT / MDCCLXI. A RARE offering, especially in gold, this issue parallels the coronation medal for her husband, George III. This particular example has experienced some extensive handling and exhibits numerous scuffs from use as a jewelry piece, but nevertheless remains a solid representative from an exceedingly difficult emission.
