GREAT BRITAIN. George III Coronation Gold Medal, 1761. London Mint. PCGS Genuine--Damage, AU Details Gold Shield.
BHM-22; Eimer-694. By L. Natter. Mintage: 858. Obverse: GEORGIVS III D G M BRI FRA ET HIB REX F D, laureate, draped, and armored bust right / PATRIAE OVANTI, George seated left on throne, holding scepter and being crowned by Britannia standing to left; trident and Union shield to left; to outer right, lion seated facing, with forepaw upon orb; in two lines in exergue, CORON XXII SEPT / MDCCLXI. Though exhibiting some scuffs and light marks in the fields resulting in the damage designation, an otherwise charming representative of this meager output. Quite handsomely toned, with some delightful hints of orange scattered throughout.
From the Duke of Lansing Collection.
