George VI (1936-1952), copper-nickel proof Sixpence, 1949, bare head left, HP below truncation for designer Humphrey Paget, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX, rev. crowned cypher of George VI centre dividing date, Latin legend and toothed border continues, FID DEF above round, denomination SIXPENCE below, edge milled (Bull 4256; ESC 1838A; S.4110). Lightly toned with an attractive copper hue, graded by NGC as PF65, extremely rare.

NGC Certification 6317876-011

The Latin legends translate as on obverse as “George the Sixth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons,” and continues on the reverse as “Defender of the Faith.”
