Victoria 1887 gold Two Pounds

Victoria (1837-1901), gold Two Pounds, 1887, Jubilee type crowned bust left, J.E.B. on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, Latin legend surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, taller date, larger B.P to upper right of exergue, 15.93g (DISH C207; Schneider 654; Hill T26; S.3865). Toned with some nicks and bagmarks in fields, surface marks on highpoints, good subdued residual lustre, otherwise very fine.

Calendar year mintage 91,345.

The Latin legend translates as “Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith.”
