AU58 | Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1838, first young head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINIA FID: DEF: (Bentley 36; Marsh 22 R; S.3852).Toned with a number of light digs and surface marks both sides, the first year of issue for Queen Victoria, graded by NGC as AU58.

NGC Certification 1884763-006.

Calendar Year Mintage 2,718,6904

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britain's, Defender of the Faith."
