Description

ATTICA. Athens. 104/103 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.64 g, 12 h), struck under the magistrates Herakleides, Eukles, and Bakchi.... Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet ornamented with palmette, Pegasos and quadriga, and wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. Α-ΘΕ / ΗΡΑ-ΚΛΕΙ/ΔΗΣ / ΕΥΚ/ΛΗΣ / BAK/XI Owl standing to right on overturned amphora; in field to right, Nike-Tyche standing to left , holding cornucopia and extending her right hand above amphora; on amphora, Λ/K; in exergue, ME; all within laurel wreath. HGC 4, 1602. Thompson 794b. Toned. Light marks, otherwise, very fine.
