Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 276-272 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 6.21 g, 2 h), struck under the magistrates Zo-, Zalo-, and An-. Youthful nude jockey crowning himself on horse striding slowly to right; below, ZΑΛO above Ionic capital; behind rider, ZΩ. Rev. TΑΡΑΣ / AN Phalanthos seated astride dolphin to left, holding aphlaston and distaff. HN III 1014. SNG ANS 1142. Vlasto 803-807. Toned. Light porosity, otherwise, about very fine.
