Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Timoleon and the Third Democracy, 344-317 BC. Stater (Silver, 21.5 mm, 8.63 g, 6 h). Pegasos flying to left. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Head of Athena to right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with neck guard. HGC 2, 1400. Pegasi 2. Cf. SNG ANS 497-498. Attractively toned. Minor marks and striking flatness, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Collection of Prof. James M. Collier, acquired privately in 1998.
