Description

GAUL. Massalia. Circa 225-200 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 2.70 g, 5 h), Light Standard. Laureate head of Artemis to right, wearing triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace, but without her bow and quiver. Rev. ΜΑΣΣΑ Lion walking to right. F/Py DRM-16-1. LT III, 820. Toned and attractive. Minor marks and reverse struck from a worn die, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the Montecristo Collection, acquired from Silberstein in 1991, previously in the Charra Collection.
