MEROVINGIANS, Aube. Chappes. Circa 675-750. Denier (Silver, 11 mm, 1.16 g). Monogram surmounted by a cross. Rev. CAPAS ( retrograde ) Pellet or globe at the centre, surrounded by legend. Apparently unpublished in the standard references, but published by P. Schiesser (2022), Les trouvailles de deniers mérovingiens (vers 670- vers 750) dans l’Aube, p. 114-115, 15 ( this coin ), and cf. CGB e-Monnaies, 30 January 2018, 155 for another example. Extremely rare. Irregular flan and some marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
