Description

SELEUKID KINGS. Philip I Philadelphos, circa 95/4-76/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 15.74 g, 1 h), Antioch-on-the-Orontes, 88/7-76/5. Diademed head of Philip I to right; filleted border. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ / ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ - ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΥ Zeus seated to left, holding Nike in his outstretched right hand and scepter in his left; in the inner left field, Δ; below throne, monogram ( frozen control mark ); all within laurel wreath. HGC 9, 1319. SC 2463.2c. Sharp and well-centered. Flan crack on obverse and double struck on reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
