Description

MYSIA. Kyzikos. Circa 390-341/0 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24.5 mm, 15.11 g, 6 h). ΣΩTEIPA Head of Kore Soteira to left, hair in sphendone covered with a veil, wearing wreath of grain ears and single-pendant earring. Rev. ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ Head of lion to left, with open jaws and protruding tongue; below, tunny; behind, owl standing to left. Pixodarus Type 1. SNG France 405-406. SNG von Aulock 7346. Von Fritze II pl. V, 36. Attractively toned and sharply struck. Scattered marks and slight porosity, otherwise, extremely fine.
