Description

BRUTTIUM. Laos. Circa 350-300 BC. AE (Bronze, 17.5 mm, 3.12 g, 11 h), under the magistrates Statius and Opsidius. Head of a youthful Dionysos to right, wearing an ivy wreath. Rev. ΣΤΑ - Ο[ΨΙ] Crow standing to right with folded wings; in the lower field to right, ram's head to right. AMB 126 ( this coin ). HN III 2305. SNG ANS 147. SNG Morcom 273. Rare in this fine condition, and with a lovely green patina. Traces of corrosion, otherwise, about extremely fine.

Head, in HN, p. 75, suggests that the letters on the reverse ought to stand for Latin magistrates, Statius and Opsidius.
