Description

BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 400-350 BC. Triobol (Silver, 13 mm, 1.19 g, 8 h). KPO ( retrograde ) Tripod with legs ending in lions paws and with three rings on the bowl; to right, olive leaf; border of dots. Rev. Upright thunderbolt; in field to left, star of sixteen rays; in the field to right, eagle standing left, on a column with a Corinthian capital, his head turned back to right; border of dots. HN III 2185. SNG ANS 416. Rare. Nicely toned, well-struck and unusually attractive. Extremely fine.

From the Dr. Paul Peter Urone Collection, acquired from F. Kovacs in the late 1980s.
