Description

SICILY. Panormos (as Ziz). Circa 400-380 BC. Hemilitra or Hexonkia (Silver, 10 mm, 0.32 g, 5 h). Wreathed head of Poseidon (?) to right; border of dots. Rev. ṣ-yṣ ( in Punic ) Wheel with four spokes: inscription in the upper quarters and two opposed dolphins in the lower. Buceti 55 = HGC 2, 1049 ( same dies ). Cf. Jenkins, Punic pl. 24, 7 . Rare. Well-centered, with a dark patina as found. Traces of corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
