LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 300-280 BC. Pentetetartemorion (Silver, 8.5 mm, 0.42 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with an olive wreath; between the helmet and the crest, large letter Τ. Rev. ΘΟΥ 𐅈 (= Pentetetartemorion ); in field to right, star of eight rays. Apparently unpublished, but see HGC 1, 1272 = HN III 1884 var. ( but with NY above ). Minor cleaning marks, otherwise, good very fine.

This curious coin's denomination equals 1 1/4 obols - why such an odd sum was produced is a mystery!
