LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 340-330 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11.5 mm, 1.21 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with Skylla, a disc earring with a pendant and a pearl necklace. Rev. ⸠HPAKΛΗΙΩΝ Herakles standing facing, turned slightly to the right, resting his right hand on his club, holding his bow in his left, and with his lion's skin draped over his left arm; in the outer field to left, Nike flying upwards to crown Herakles; in the inner left field, ΕY; in the field to right, Σ. HN III 1381. Van Keuren 78. Weber 711. A lovely, clear example; lightly toned. Good very fine.
