Description
Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 21 mm, 1.45 g, 6 h). (MHP) - ΘV The Virgin, nimbate, standing facing slightly to left, orans; across field B - B. Rev. [X / M/E/Π/Γ/Λ - Ο/Π] / Δ/Ε Michael seated facing on backless throne, holding labarum-headed scepter and globe surmounted with a patriarchal cross. DOC 86-90. SB 2274. Dark brown patina, with earthen highlights. Good very fine.
