Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 26 mm, 2.33 g, 6 h), Constantinople. O / A/Γ/I/O/C Γ/Ε/(ωΡ)Γ/Ι/S Three-quarter length bust of Saint George facing, holding spear in right hand and shield in left. Rev. Michael, on left, standing facing, holding labarum in right hand, and St. Constantine, on right, standing facing, together holding patriarchal cross between them. DOC 71-2. SB 2267. Dark green patina. Very fine.
