Anastasius I, 491-518. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.47 g, 6 h), Constantinople, Z = 7th officina, 492-507. D N ANASTA-SIVS P P AVG Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Anastasius facing, holding spear with his right hand over his right shoulder and with a shield, embellished with horseman attacking a fallen foe, over his left. Rev. VICTORI-A AVGGG Z / CONOB Victory standing to left, holding in right hand a long voided cross; in field to right, star. DOC 3, but this officina not recorded. MIBE 4a. SB 3. Attractive and well-struck. Very minor die rust, otherwise, extremely fine.
