Description

LUCANIA. Sybaris. Circa 550-510 BC. Stater (Silver, 27 mm, 7.89 g, 12 h). ΜV (retrograde) Bull standing to left on dotted ground line, his head turned back to right; in field above, ethnic; all within a border of dots. Rev. Bull standing to right, on dotted ground line; around, border of dots; all incuse. HN III 1729. SNG ANS 817. SNG Copenhagen 1390. SNG München 1157. Very attractively toned. Slightly irregular flan and with minor graffiti on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine/extremely fine.
