CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Carnutes. First half of the 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 20.5 mm, 6.36 g, 1 h). Celticized head of Apollo to right, with particularly curly hair and two feather-like locks at the back of his neck, wearing a torc, an "earring" of three pellets and a beaded truncation. Rev. KABAΛΛOS: CONTIIΘIL Charioteer, holding kentron in his left hand and reins in his right, driving biga to right; below, lyre. De la Tour - (cf. 5957 = Delestrée & Tache 2536, but in gold or electrum). Delestrée & Tache S 2536b. Rare. With a particularly bold and well-struck obverse, nicely toned. Reverse struck slightly off-center but with a very clear legend, otherwise, good very fine.
