Description

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 411-340 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 15.19 g, 3 h). Bearded head of Dionysos to left, wearing ivy wreath with berries on forehead. Rev. ΘΑΣΙΟΝ Herakles, wearing lion's skin headdress and short hunting tunic, kneeling to right, drawing his bow; on the lower right, kantharos. HGC 6, 342. Le Rider, Thasiennes 23. West 32. Nicely toned. Obverse crowded to left, otherwise, good very fine.
