Description

Thessaly
Larissa. Circa 356-342 BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 6.15 g, 9 h), "late facing head" series. Head of the nymph Larissa facing, turned slightly to the left, wearing ampyx and triple-pendant earring. Rev. ΛΑΡΙΣ / ΑΙΩΝ Horse to right, preparing to roll over. BCD II 325. Lorber 2008 110 (same dies). An attractive piece, well-struck and nicely toned. Nearly extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection, ex Gorny & Mosch 236, 7 March 2016, 177 and from a German collection bought privately from Bank Leu in May 1981. This coin will be sold with its original ticket, hand written by the late, great Silvia Hurter herself.
