Eastern Mediterranean Area. Third Century BC on into Roman Times. Gaming Counter (Bronze, 32.5x6.5 mm, 50.42 g), with a raised, flat edge with an engraved line around at the center. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress; around, border of large globules. Rev. Plain. No parallel found as yet. This large and thick piece must be for gaming: it is certainly not a weight and lack of any traces of an attachment on the reverse makes it unlikely to be a decoration for furniture or something similar. Very dark patina with some deposits. Some minor scrapes and marks; fine green patina, otherwise, very fine.
