F., The Triumph of Prudence (allegory of woman on a dragon), bronze plaquette, late 15th century, female figure seated on dragon and approached by two males, one holding a palm branch, the other a decapitated head on a standard; signed below, 54.7mm (Molinier 147; Bange 656; Kress 97, fig. 128; Warren, Ashmolean, 281), three piercings, early cast, stripped of patina, with faint traces of gilding. This plaquette type was reproduced in a prayer book of Matthaus Schwarz by Narziss Renner in Augsburg, 1521.
