Charles I, York mint, shilling, Group 1, m.m. lion 2, obv., crowned and draped bust left, XII behind, rev., square-topped shield, EBOR above, on long cross fourchée with ‘bezants on stalks’ in cross-ends, 5.84g (Besly 1D; Brooker 1092; N. 2317; S. 2871), a couple of surface knocks, about very fine Provenance: Capt. R.D. Wills, Glendining, 6 December 1938, lot 562 (part); S.R. Naish, Seaby’s Coin and Medal Bulletin, Fixed Price List 338, November 1945 (N579).
