Description

Charles I, Shrewsbury mint, half-pound, 1642, m.m. plume, obv., well-proportioned horseman left trampling upon arms, without plume in field, rev., Declaration between two straight lines, value X and three plumes above, 58.66g (Morr. F-6; Brooker 805; N. 2368; S. 2924), small flan crack at 3 o’clock on obverse, generally very fine and with a strong, pleasing equestrian portrait, scarce Provenance: Dr E.C. Carter (collection purchased by A.H. Baldwin & Sons, 1950); R. Carlyon-Britton (portions of collection purchased by B.A. Seaby, 1940-61).
