Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.05 g, 8 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ] - AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left MI above crescent; below throne, monogram within wreath. Price 3756. The reverse with light marks, otherwise, very fine.
