KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.13 g, 1 h), Amphipolis, circa 294-293. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis in her left hand, standing to left on a left-facing prow. Rev. BA-ΣIΛE-ΩΣ / ΔHMHTΡIOΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys draped over his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; in field to left, tripod; in field to right, 𐤆 above monogram of ME. HGC 3.1, 1012f. Newell 94 (LXXXIV/-). SNG Alpha Bank -. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG München -. Attractively toned and without the die wear that plagues this series. A few minor die breaks and flan faults, otherwise, good very fine.
