Kallimachos (?), apo hypaton, 6th-7th centuries. Seal (Lead, 19 mm, 6.40 g, 12 h). Draped bust of a bald-headed and bearded Saint. Rev. Cruciform monogram KAΛΛIMAXOV (?) AΠO VΠATⲰN. Unpublished in the standard references. Very fine.

From an important collection of Roman and Byzantine seals, tesserae and amulets, formed before 2021.

The name Kallimachos is extremely rare for this period (cf. Berlin I for a possible attestation), and there may be other solutions to this complex monogram.
