Description

THRACE. Chersonesos. Circa 480-440 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11 mm, 1.12 g, 12 h). Rider on horse prancing right, holding reigns in his right hand; behind uncertain object. Rev. Beardless head (Demeter?) to right, wearing alopekis cap; all within incuse square. HGC 3.1, 648 var. (as Potidaia in Macedon?). Roma E-Auction 72 (2020), 241 (as Potidaia in Macedon). SNG ANS 696 (as Potidaia in Macedon). Somewhat granular, otherwise, about very fine.
